U.S. AND TEXAS FLAGS WILL FLY AT HALF-STAFF UNTIL SUNSET SATURDAY
Ed. note: County Judge Ramon Garcia has ordered all Hidalgo County buildings to lower the United States and Texas State flagsto half-staff until sunset on Saturday, July 25, in honor of the (five service members killed in the recent terrorist attack on military recruiting personnel in Chattanooga, Tenn. in accordance with state statute and presidential directive.
What I find insane is this bit of illogic from some people around the country who say that the military personnel at recruiting centers should continue to remain unarmed.
Why? Because, according to one antigun site: “Recruitment centers are meant to be welcoming, accessible places. Visible firearms, or even the knowledge of a concealed one, could easily be interpreted as unwelcoming (CNN)?”
Seriously?
For people who are considering signing up to join the military? If they find firearms “unwelcoming,” why in the world are they at a military recruitment center?
To shoot it up?
It would appear so. Because the killer intent on harm knows the service members at the recruitment centers are unarmed, made so by presidential decree. I still can’t really find out which president signed that stupid executive order dating back to the early 1990s: George H. W. Bush or Bill Clinton. Both have been blamed for the order.
Such is the insanity in this country that, at least in some quarters, remains supreme.
