Sweltering under the summer sun
PHARR – Five months after The Advance News Journal first reported about the great divide between the City of Pharr and the Pharr Boys & Girls Club, no resolution has been forthcoming. The south-side club’s air-conditioned gym remains closed as it has throughout this entire past summer.
City representatives, including Deputy City Manager Ed Wylie and Mayor Amos Hernandez, have said there is an easy fix to the problem. Namely, the Pharr Boys & Girls Club has to bring the gym up to city-code requirements, which includes the installation of a fire alarm and an indoor fire sprinkler system.
