New legislation filed in Austin to restore public’s access to…well…public information

As anyone in the media can attest, and some grassroots watchdog groups and private citizens as well, for that matter, gaining access to public information has grown increasingly more difficult over the years. Thankfully, there is a move now afoot in Austin to restore said access to public info.
The best example of shielding public access to public information, perhaps, comes straight from the governor’s office. When he was attorney general, Greg Abbott, was a vocal proponent of the public’s “right to know.” After he was elected governor, however, not so much.
