New Alamo arrest shows county justice system loves probation

Multiple felonies; no prison time

ALAMO – How many felony convictions do you have to rack up in Hidalgo County before you’re ever sent to state prison? No telling exactly, but looking at the court filings tied to 54-year-old Alamo resident Cristobal Garza Godinez, at least part of the answer would have to be: Mucho.
Last Thursday afternoon, out on a $20,000 bond for pot possession posted July 21, 2018, apparently knowing that the Alamo PD had an arrest warrant with his name attached to it, claiming that he was engaged in organized criminal activity, Godinez turned himself in through the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, according to Alamo Police Chief Buadelio Castillo.
