While those of us on this side of the border are being asked to conserve water – fix those leaky toilets, cut down on watering our lawns, plant droughtresistant plants – the Mexican government continues to defy the 1944 water treaty it has with the U.S. Meanwhile, Valley ag fields wither while farmers go under. In response, a number of cities and other Valley public entities signed a resolution last year, asking.that the federal agency in charge of enforcing the treaty, the International Boundary and Water Commission, do something about forcing Mexico’s hand.
