Mexico won’t abide by treaty

Local and state lawmakers are growing impatient with Mexico over its failure to release the water its obliged to send to the U.S., based on the Water Treaty both countries signed 70 years ago. But their displeasure seems to be having little to no effect on Mexico. Last week inside the board room of the Brownsville Public Utilities Board home office, Texas State Representative Eddie Lucio III, DBrownsville, and Texas Water Development Board Chairman Carlos Rubinstein staged a public info session to help underscore their concern – if Mexico doesn’t start to abide by the ’44 Water Treaty, the Valley’s economy is going to suffer even worse than it already is.
