May slates still up in the air

PHARR -- For lovers of political drama, loud fanfare, politiqueras getting into screaming matches at polling places after ushering in voters from the nursing homes, free barbecue outside the Pepe Salinas Civic Center, name-calling, anonymous Facebook posters making up stuff about candidates, police presence at polling places to ensure peace, families split apart over political slates, age-old friendships torn asunder, political signs defaced, you will probably be disappointed with Pharr’s city commission election this year. So far, it appears low-key.
