Does Hidalgo County really need more courts?
The judges think so. In fact, local state legislators are urging the Texas Legislature to approve the creation of at least one new state district court and one new county court-at-law in Hidalgo County, home of the 12 used semi-trucks that cost taxpayers $1.4 million last fall (more on that story next week).
Last week, all seven county court-at-law judges stood before the Hidalgo County Commissioners Court and requested that the county judge and four county commissioners sign a letter of support for an additional court.
