The title should actually have been "thrilled!" I have done my homework and discovered that I can continue to call Med-Care rather than Hidalgo County EMS after the contract is signed Dec. 2, 2016 whereby Hidalgo County EMS replaces Med-Care as Pharr’s 911 service provider. This, despite Med-Care's excellent 18-year record of service and donations to the city of Pharr. In addition to the free ambulance-on-call time Med-Care donated at city events in case of a medical emergency, Med-Care also donated a used ambulance to the Pharr Fire Department for use as a triage vehicle.
