Guilty or Not Guilty?

EDINBURG – In a capital murder/theft trial that has lasted longer than anyone would have ever thought possible, five looooooooooong weeks, the state rested its case Monday morning, as expected, based on the courtroom vibe as last Friday’s testimony came to a close. It did seem that former Comfort House Board Chairman Tim Brown would be the state’s final witness, and so he was.
What almost no one expected Monday morning, however, was what Patterson’s four-man defense team did: It rested its case without calling a single witness to testify in the 370th state District Court of Judge Noe Gonzalez.
