Feit’s Trial still set for Sept. 11

After murder defendant and former Catholic Priest John Feit, age 84, inched his way into Judge Luis Singleterry’s 92nd state District Court last Wednesday and took a seat in his walker, one of his two attorneys, Ricardo Flores, leaned over and said to him, “How are you feeling, John?”
“I feel like my tank is running dry,” Feit said.
The murder defendant’s final pre-trial hearing was set for 9 a.m., but attorneys for both sides – prosecution and defense – spent about an hour and a half in the judge’s chambers discussing the court calendar, presumably trying to decide if Sept. 11 was indeed a workable date to begin the trial. Turned out, it was, with one caveat: that’s actually the week that jury selection will begin. How long that is going to take is anyone’s guess.
