Feit’s Final Pre-Trial Hearing This Wednesday

The final pre-trial hearing for accused murderer, former Catholic Priest John Feit is set for this Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Judge Luis Singleterry’s 92nd state District Court. The trial date is set for Sept. 11. Since his arraignment in March 2016 during which he pleaded not guilty, Feit, 84 years old, has been locked up in the Hidalgo County jail, unable to ante up the million dollars needed to post bond.
His court-appointed attorneys, led by Rene Flores, had asked the court last May for a change of venue, arguing that Feit couldn’t get a fair trial in Hidalgo County because of all of the publicity surrounding the 1960 murder of 25-year-old McAllen Teacher Irene Garza for which Feit now stands accused.
