Edinburg council majority votes yes on $35 million apartment project

With words and phrases such as “conflict of interest,” “nepotism,” “Mr. Conspiracy Theory,” “he’s breaking the law,” and “he could face civil and criminal liabilities” bouncing around the City of Edinburg’s Dec. 12 special meeting like live hand grenades, there is little doubt that it was indeed a rollicking affair, which meant it might be of interest to Edinburg taxpayers and those who enjoy political drama. At issue: should the City of Edinburg enter into a publicprivate partnership (P3) with D&M Ventures LLC to build a 288-unit low-income housing development (La Sienna Apartment complex) adjacent to the La Sienna Community Development being developed by the Burns brothers near the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and Monte Cristo Road?
