DA will get Jasso’s case Friday

Man who filed hit-and-run charge says all he wants is a little justice

EDINBURG – It took more than a month for 31-year-old Edinburg resident Joseph Alejo to get what he says he wanted the most: “Just a little justice.”

If all goes as planned, he will get it this Friday when the Edinburg PD sends its case file to the Hidalgo County DA’s office so “intake” prosecutors can look at it and see if they think the formal charges he had filed against Hidalgo County JP Precinct 4, Place 2 Homer Jasso Sr. rises to the level of a Class B Hit-and-Run misdemeanor.

The Advance broke the story about Jasso’s car-crash problems in its Dec. 26th issue. The headline: “Edinburg PD gives a pass to JP Jasso after leaving the scene of hitand-run.”

Not the best publicity for a police department. This was prior, by the way, to the new chief, Cesar Torres, assuming command of the Edinburg PD.
