Current Mission mayor wins appeal against longtime Mayor “Beto” Salinas

Voter Fraud in Mission. You lose some; you lose some. Current Mission Mayor Armando O’Caña came out the winner last week when the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals ruled in his favor and struck down a lower court’s ruling late last year that last year’s May municipal election was so fraught with voter fraud that the city must host a new one.

After losing to Mission Mayor Armando O’Caña at the 13^th , which carries with it the unenviable distinction of being the state’s most overturned appellate court multiple years running, longtime and former Mission Mayor “Beto” Salinas said this week through his lead attorney, his son, Criminal Defense Attorney Ricardo “Rick” Salinas, that he would appeal the 13^th s decision to the Texas Supreme Court. Whether or not that court will accept Salinas’s appeal won’t be immediately decided.

Although voter fraud in the RGV is as common as the Cowboys on Sunday TV, has been for years, only recently has it made any sort of splash. Some have been civil in nature, while others have been criminal: “Five votes for a six-pack.”
