College, pro football -- Down thru the years…

By G. Romero Wendorf

Good news is, my son’s alma mater, Baylor, spoiled Oklahoma State’s undefeated season last weekend. With a 19-yearold QB at the helm, no less. Doesn’t get any better than that. Then, forgive me Longhorn fans, but while I’m on the subject of college football, I’m still asking the question: why did UT-Austin hire Charlie Strong to be its head football coach after Mack Brown left, and pay him almost as much as Mack was making? Strong’s college credential didn’t merit paying him $5 million a year, not to mention the fact that UT had to pay his former team, the University of Louisville, $4.37 million to buy out his contract.
