VALLEY GOLFERS BEGIN QUEST TO REACH STATE TOURNAMENT
MISSION - Jimmy Lee and Mia Lerma are two of the names that are beginning their quest to reach the state golf tournament as district and regional play get under way. In the South Texas golf world, they are two of the most familiar names due to their success over the past 2-3 years.
Lee, a Sharyland High senior, has been the top golfer in the Valley for what seems like as long as he’s held a club in his hand. His 70.40 average round is more than four strokes better than his nearest Rio Grande Valley golfer.
Of his 10 district rounds this year, seven are 70 or lower rounds. He opened the season at McAllen Country Club with back-to-back rounds of 71 and 70 and is looking for another trip to the state tournament.
