Two-a-day football practices akin to torture

$72 million football stadium?

Sad deal related to high school football practice in August – some football players die from heat-related illnesses. Five years ago, there were two in Georgia, and one each in Florida and South Carolina who succumbed to heat stroke.

To help limit the risk of Texas high school football players, the state’s athletic governing body – the University Interscholastic League – passed new regulations several years ago:
No two-a-day practices during the first four days of practice in August.
