McAllen Memorial tops Sharyland Pioneer in season-opener

McAllen Memorial head football coach Bill Littleton didn’t know what to expect going into the first high school football game of the season at Sharyland Pioneer.

“We didn’t get a chance to scrimmage the week before and that’s the first time I haven’t had a scrimmage,” Littleton said, whose scrimmage was canceled due to the threat at the time of Hurricane Harvey. “No matter how much you practice and make it seem like a live game, it’s just not the same.”
