Edinburg Vela powers past PSJA Wolverines — 42-20

The Edinburg Vela Sabercats used a powerful offensive attack, triggered by Quarterback Ebber Lopez, to take complete control after halftime and defeat the PSJA Memorial Wolverines 42-20 in a non-district clash at PSJA Stadium Friday night. The game was delayed for almost 90 minutes as lightning and heavy rain pounded the Pharr area. Fans were told tofind shelter just after 6:30 p.m. when lightning was first spotted in the area. A significant number of lightning strikes were within a mile of the stadium. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., it was determined to be safe to start the game and the kickoff occurred at roughly 8:50 p.m.
