He’s back – the all-time eating champ: Joey Chestnut. On July 4th, he reclaimed the crown at the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, New York, by downing, wait for it, 70 hot dogs (including the buns) in 10 minutes. Second-place winner, Matt Stonie, could only jam 53 wieners down his throat. Burp. As mentioned several months ago in this column, the annual Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest was founded in 1997 by two brothers, George and Richard Shea, who managed to garner so much publicity for it that ESPN now airs the annual “sporting” event each and every year.
