Truth Matters
The Falun Gong is a religious group in China that has for several years been persecuted by the Chinese government. Their leaders have been arrested, detained, and reportedly in many cases had their vital organs sold for transplant and removed from them while they were still alive. Those Falun Gong who have been able to flee the country have done so. The group’s beliefs are a mixture of Buddhism and Taoism and include dedication to truthfulness and compassion. Communists fear truth and compassion, so they have to be eradicated.
Some of those who managed to get out of China joined with others to found a newspaper dedicated to telling the world about the plight of the Falun Gong and other oppressed peoples. The Chinese Communist Government, meanwhile, has done all it can do to shut the newspaper down. They haven’t succeeded. The print edition is now in just under forty languages and at least that many countries around the world. The name of the paper is The Epoch Times. It has won many awards, including one from the Queen of England for defending oppressed minorities. As you might imagine, the paper is anti-communist in the extreme. Their Internet version is viewed by at least twenty million people.
