Representative Filemon Vela claimed last week that he had placed language in the appropriations bill to prohibit building Trump’s wall in the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge. I say “claimed” because in the words of the Donald “nobody knows what’s in it.” Did other representatives along the border add other measures preventing the wall from being built in their districts? At this point we don’t know. It’s possible (although somewhat unlikely) the president signed away his entire wall by penning his signature on this year’s appropriations bill.
