SOFIA R. FONSECA

PHARR — Sofia R. Fonseca, 82, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Mrs. Fonseca had lived in Pharr most of her life. She was a very strong, family oriented woman, who lived to see her family happy. Sofia loved watching baseball, sewing, crochet, and listening to accordion music at home with her biggest joy, her daughter and grandchildren. She was an amazing loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She is preceded in death by her parents, Petra Ferrer and Pablo Rodriguez; three brothers, Clemente Lopez, Victoriano Martinez and Rene Rodriguez. Mrs. Fonseca is survived by her husband of 62 years, Camilo L. Fonseca of Pharr; a daughter, Maria Cristina (Odie) Carden; three grandchildren, Norah, Gabriel, and Michael Carden all of Alamo; a sister, Blasita Flores of Pharr; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. service today, April 3, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
