McALLEN - Socorro T. Hernandez, age 79, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Comfort House in McAllen. She was born Nov 23, 1935 in McAllen. She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus Tamez & Refugia Cantu Tamez. Socorro worked for 25 years for the McAllen Independent School District before her retirement. She also worked at HEB for six years. She is survived by her son, Gregorio Hernandez Jr. and Linda of McAllen and a daughter, Patricia Canales of Pharr; Clyde Robison a longtime friend of Pharr; sisters, Lupe Montoya of Garland, Josie Tamez of San Juan, Carmen Martinez of Mission, Juanita Tamez of Corpus Christi; Grandchildren, John David Canales, Greg Anthony Hernandez, Juliana Elisa Villarreal & Ross Pena; and a great grandson, Damian Cerda Canales son of John David Canales and Aracelly Cerda. Visitation was held on Thursday, June 11 at Skinner-Silva Funeral Home of Pharr. A Prayer Service was held followed by a Holy Rosary. There was no burial held at this time, her wishes were to be cremated. Services were entrusted to the care of Skinner-Silva Funeral Home of Pharr.
