SAN JUAN — San Juana Gonzalez, 75, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister went to be with the lord on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. San Juana was born on March 8, 1940 in General Bravo, Nuevo Leon. My father and she moved their small family to the United States and worked very hard to pursue a better life. She was a simple and honest woman. All who knew her had a tremendous love and respect for her. She lived in San Juan for 40 years and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish. She is preceded in death by her husband, Benito C. Gonzalez; and her parents, Rogelio and Catarina De Leon. Mrs. Gonzalez is survived by two sons, Juan M. (Lilia) Gonzalez, Jorge L. (Bertha) Gonzalez; two daughters, Norma (Sindulfo) Cantu, Ofelia (Miguel) Pena; five grandchildren, Julissa (Jose) Garza, Juan M. Gonzalez Jr., Carlos Cantu, Jorge L. Gonzalez Jr., Clarissa Pena; and ten siblings, Guadalupe De Leon, Orfila Rangel, Orlando De Leon, Ofelia Quintanilla, Maria Guajardo, Bertha De Leon, Concepcion Eguia, Alicia Cantu, Manuel De Leon and Ramiro De Leon. Visitation was held Monday, July 6 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
