MARIA CHRISTINA “CHRISTY” BALDAZO

McALLEN – Maria Christina “Christy” Baldazo, 64, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after two years of a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Pharr and had lived in McAllen all of her life. She was a 1972 graduate of McAllen High School. Christy was a loyal and caring person who opened her home to all of her family and friends. She gave much of herself to all those who crossed her path, especially her son’s friends, whom she treated as her own. We believe that she’ll be in heaven with her mother watching down on us with her beautiful smile. She is preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Elizondo. Christy is survived by her husband, Charlie Baldazo of McAllen; one son, Thomas Carlos (Alexandra) Baldazo of McAllen; a step-son, Randy Baldazo of Austin; her father, Rodrigo Elizondo of McAllen; five siblings, Blanca (Henry) Sanchez of Mission, Rudy (Dolly) Elizondo of McAllen, Rosy (Gary) DeWulf of Houston, Charlie (Pauline) Elizondo, Mitzi (Mario) Valdez, both of McAllen; and numerous nieces and nephews, all whom adored her. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, March 27, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen. Cremation will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
