JOSE F. MORENO

ALAMO - Jose F. Moreno, 90, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 8, 2018, at PaxVilla Hospice in McAllen.
Mr. Moreno was born February 10, 1928 in San Benito, TX, he lived in Donna and then in Alamo for the past 37 years. He was the pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Pharr, and pastor of City of Refuge in Alamo; a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas with a double major on May 26, 1956. He was also an educator in Santa Maria ISD and Edcouch Elsa ISD.
He is preceded in death by two children, Noemi Willis and Abel Moreno; his parents, Prisciliano and Concepcion Moreno; and two brothers, Jose Moreno and Fermin Moreno.
Jose is survived by his wife, Dolores Villagomez Moreno of Alamo; eight children, David (Nana) Moreno, Saul (Cris) Moreno, Raquel Trevino, all of Donna, Esdras Eli (Ana) Moreno of Grand Prairie, TX, Elizabeth (Jay) Kelly of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Daniel (Blanca) Moreno of Brownsville, Sara (Luis) Vasquez of Mongo, Indiana, Jose (Elaine) Moreno of Grand Prairie, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren; three siblings, Juan Moreno, Benito Moreno, Hortencia Ramos.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Mission.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Moreno, Saul Moreno Jr., Esdras Eli Moreno III, Isaac Trevino, Seth Moreno, and Austin Vasquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Moreno and Erik Moreno
The family would like to give thanks to all the special people that were involved in the care of their Dad: for their exceptional care and comfort during his last moments, Memorial Funeral Home Staff for their friendship, love, support, and professional care, and to all the members of his church and friends for their love, calls, prayers, and support.
