ELVA AVENDANO

ELGIN, IL — Elva Avendano, 66, of Elgin, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Alexian Brothers Hospice after battling a short illness. She was born on December 28, 1948 in Pharr, Texas, the daughter of Elias and Petra Lechuga. Elva was raised by her grandparents, Juanita and Jose DeLeon. Elva was a devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Lupe, Alfredo, Elias, Mario, Adolfo, Leonel, along with her grandparents. Elva is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ramiro Avendano Sr.; a son, Ramiro (Veronica) Avendano Jr.; her six grandchildren and by many godchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 28 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place Wednesday, April 29 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
