DELA MORALES
Dela Morales, age 49, passed away surrounded by her family on February 25, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in San Antonio. Dela was born in Harlingen on April 9, 1968 to Leopoldo Flores and Maria Luisa (Padilla) Flores. Dela married her high school sweetheart, Ricardo “Rick” Morales, on June 1, 1985 at her mother’s home in Harlingen. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rick; four children: Joshua (Kayleigh) Morales, Nicole (Hiten) Patel, Isaiah Morales, and Elijah (Ester) Morales; and the first of many grandchildren, Emery Rose Morales; her mother, Maria Luisa Flores; her two sisters: Ninfa (Mario) Rodriguez and Elvira (Luis) Corpus; her nieces and nephews: Brandon Rodriguez, Sadie Rodriguez, Luis Corpus, Ashley Corpus. The philosophy Dela lived by was to experience all of life’s wonder and joy, and chose to give her heart, soul, and life to anyone who needed her strength. She loved her family deeply and loved to adventure hard – she loved physical fitness, and even challenged herself to skydive because she thought bungee jumping was for wimps. Dela, who lived for her four children, often calling her sons her limbs, and her daughter her heart. She loved to proudly celebrate their accomplishments, their wins, and was the first to console them in times of confusion and difficulty. Dela’s light will not dim in the hearts of those who love her – her glow will persist in all her children and grandchildren for all to see.
