Amadeo Martinez, 73, entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at McAllen Medical Center. Born in Alamo he had lived there most of his life and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. He is preceded in death by his wife, Genoveva Martinez; his parents, Pablo and Leonor Martinez; and three siblings, Nora, Beto and Pablo, Jr. Mr. Martinez is survived by three children, Dina I. (Jose R.) Rivas of Pharr, Amadeo (Melinda) Martinez, Jr. of Caldwell, ID, Miguel A. (Carol) Martinez of San Juan; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Armando Martinez of Alamo. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Special thanks to McAllen Medical Center ICU and telemetry staff, IPC, Las Palmas Healthcare, Dr. Ruben Aleman, Dr. Palimar, Dr. Mangi, Dr. Farias and Fresinius McAllen for all their wonderful care. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, Jan. 9, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
