EDINBURG – Adelia G. Cadena, 89, left us Saturday, August 8, 2015, at her residence in Edinburg surrounded by her loving family. Born in Weslaco, Mrs. Cadena was formerly of Edcouch and had lived in Edinburg since 1968. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Adan Cadena; and a son, Amado Cadena. Mrs. Cadena is survived by ten children, Amelia (Herbert) Balli, of Leesville, Louisiana, Aurora (Dan) Gutierrez, of Pharr, Nina Nelson, of Santa Fe, Texas, Araceli (Joe) Pena, Alma Cadena, Danny (Edna) Cadena, all of McAllen, Adalberto Cadena, of Edinburg, Anna Maria (Homer) Diaz, of Round Rock, Arleen (Joe) Aguilar, of Penitas, Arnold (Martha) Cadena, of Mission; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Monzer Yazji; doctors, nurses & staff at McAllen Heart Hospital, as well as the staff at Selah Hospice for the tender care they provided for our mother. We are also extremely grateful to Alicia Gutierrez who provided excellent home care and companionship to her as well. Visitation and a rosary was held August 10 at Memorial Funeral Home, in Edinburg. Funeral service took place Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: David Cadena, Ricky Garza, Joey Aguilar, Michael Requenez, Tommy Smith and Danny Gutierrez. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
