SAN JUAN — Alfredo “Bear” Herrera, 59, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Born in Lubbock, TX, he had lived in San Juan all of his life. Mr. Herrera was employed as a welder for GE Aviation for 29 years; he was very humble, caring individual who loved his job, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Julia Herrera; two nephews, Joel Hernandez and Armando Hernandez. Mr. Herrera is survived by six siblings, Olivia (+Luis) Hernandez of Lubbock, TX, Ignacio (+Norma) Herrera, Jr., Francisco (Estrella) Herrera, both of Alamo, Anita (Fernando) Martinez, Critina (+Eduvino) Gonzalez, and Rosie Herrera, all of San Juan; Numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Monday, June 22 at Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan. Funeral service took place at Tuesday, June 23 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at San Juan Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
