GEORGE MEJEUR

George Mejeur, 87, passed away at his home on Monday, February 9, 2015. George was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1927. He began his career in aviation in 1957 as a copilotfor TAN Airlines out of Miami, Florida flying C-46’s on international flights to Honduras, Salvador and Guatemala until 1959. He spent the next several years as an Air Traffic Controller in Houston, Texas. From 1963-1967, George worked for the Federal Aviation Agency in Washington, D.C. performing administrative-editorial duties and was co-pilot on FAA aircraft out of the Washington National Airport. In 1967, George began working at McCreery Aviation Company as a Certified Flight Instructor. He held this position until 2012, continuing to work at McCreery Aviation until his death. George taught over a thousand students how to fly and amassed over 30,000 hours of flightinstruction through his 48 years as a loyal and dedicated employee of McCreery.  George was pre-deceased by his parents, Theodore and Grace (Holthouse) Mejeur and his sister, Alareka Block. He is survived by brothers John (JoAnne) Mejeur of Midlothian, VA, and Theodore (Jan) Mejeur of Plainwell, MI, as well as, sisters TrenaMeyers and Anna Ruth VanderWeele, both of Kalamazoo, MI.  Come visit and remember George from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. Burial took place Friday, Feb. 13, 10 a.m., at the RGV State Veterans Cemetery on South Inspiration Road, Mission. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
