Millionaire donors Pay-to-Play

At least new Texas Governor Greg Abbott is appointing and re-appointing “average people” to the boards that control the state’s three largest university systems. Two of them – Businessman Robert L. Albritton and R. Steven Hicks – only contributed $500,000 and $200,000, respectively, to the governor’s campaign. Albritton went the extra mile and gave his entire half-amillion to Abbott last year alone, while Hicks spread his donations over the course of several years.
