Attorney Noe Perez still practicing law at Hidalgo County Courthouse

Pleads guilty to bribing judge, but…

Noe L. Perez, Jr., the local legal beagle who set up (“ratted out”) former state District Court Judge Rudy Delgado with the feds on bribery charges, was still up at the Hidalgo County Courthouse last week practicing law. Yes, indeed, sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction.

According to one legal source, Perez must advise his clients that he’s a convicted felon, albeit one who is still awaiting sentencing (set for Aug. 15), after pleading guilty last year (5/11/2018) to one count of conspiring to bribe Delgado; but since the State Bar hasn’t done anything to suspend his law license, he’s free to continue practicing law.

Based on his case filings at the county courthouse, Perez was one of the busiest attorneys working misdemeanor and felony criminal cases. A lot of the cases had to do with gambling promotion, possession of a controlled substance, DWI 3 rd or more, evading arrests, and family assault. Perez’s last case was filed this past April: Intent to deliver synthetic marijuana in an amount of four grams or more but less than 400 grams. A pre-trial hearing for the last case is scheduled for Aug. 15, same day Perez is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court after pleading guilty to one count of bribing Delgado. (Multi-tasking?)
