SJ political lawsuit: Negative ad defined?
Observations Commentary
The San Juan city municipal race may be officially over, but the lawsuit from which it originated is still being contested in state District Court. If it goes to trial, it will most likely be short, but one worth noting as its arguments move forth. The lawsuit is based on a negative political ad circulated mainly by social media. Question is, did it cause lasting damage, which is what the plaintiff is claiming.
Styled “Marco A. Villegas VS. Pedro “Pete” Garcia, Villegas’s lawsuit (petition) claims that a political ad his opponent, Pete Garcia, used against him in this year’s municipal election was “committed willfully, maliciously, and with an actual and subjective intent to commit great harm to Plaintiff (Villegas).”
