Not too many years ago the U. S. Supreme Court discovered a previously unknown constitutional “right to privacy” and based on that right legalized abortions on the grounds that a woman had the right to do whatever she wanted to with her own body without the government interfering. Rights come and rights go. While Roe vs. Wade continues in effect, in the city of Houston at least women no longer have the right to fundamental privacy. Equality, you see, now trumps the “P” word. The City Council (headed by lesbian mayor Annise Parker) has passed an ordinance requiring that “gender confused” individuals be allowed to use the public bathroom of their choice. Opponents have been quick to dub the new ordinance “the sexual predator protection act” and have passed around petitions demanding that the ordinance be put up for a citywide vote.
