FIRE CHIEF ROLANDO “ROLAND” ESPINOZA

ALAMO - Fire Chief Rolando “Roland” Espinoza, 65, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at his residence in Alamo.
Chief Espinoza was a life-long resident of Alamo and became the city’s fire chief in 1994. He served as Historian of the Rio Grande Valley Firefighter’s and Fire Marshal’s Association, and was a member of Texas Task Force 1.
He is preceded in death by a son, Andrew Roland Espinoza; and his father, Marcos Espinoza.
Rolando is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Espinoza; two sons, Marcos Espinoza, Adam (Catarina) Espinoza; a daughter-in-law, Yanel Leos; ten grandchildren; his mother, Enriqueta Espinoza; and three sisters, Maria Del Pilar Garza, Armida Gomez, and Rosalva Garza, all of Alamo.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, June 26, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. A memorial mass will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
