Two Edinburg CISD schools win best in the nation

EDINBURG – U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., announced Wednesday that two Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) schools have been named 2016 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Canterbury Elementary School and Trevino Elementary School are among 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor. “This is the greatest award a campus can receive and to receive two of them is a huge accomplishment,” said ECISD Superintendent Dr. René Gutiérrez. “These two national awards verify what we’ve known all along about our excellent academic programs at Edinburg CISD.
