ECISD holds surprise event for Texas Teacher of the Year finalist

EDINBURG – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District announced Monday that the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) has selected one of its teachers as a finalist for the 2017 Texas Teacher of the Year program. Julie Garza, a music teacher at Ramirez Elementary School, who was recently named Regional Elementary Teacher of the Year, was surprised with the news during a general assembly meeting with students and staff on the first day of classes at Ramirez Elementary School.
