Like everyone who knew him, I’m going to miss Vic Carrillo Jr., who passed away last Tuesday at the relatively young age of 55. His presence made the world a better place, and for that he will be missed by family and friends alike.
I ran across him some when I lived here in the 1980s, but it was after my family and I had moved to Austin in ’90 and returned in ’93 that I got to know him better. Salt of the earth, as they used to say. Hard worker. Stand-up guy. Handshake was his word. And he always had that half smile on his face as if he had the world figured out. And I think he did.
