SAN JUAN – Alma G. López, 81, died Friday, October 30, 2015, at Amara Hospice Inpatient Facility in Edinburg. Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, she had lived in San Juan most of her life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo A. López; her parents, Eloy and Margarita Garza; a sister, Nilda Nancy Villarreal; and two brothers, Eloy Alfredo “Chacho” and Eloy Omar Garza. Mrs. Lopez is survived by three children, Alma M. (Eraclio) Castillo, Martha (Guadalupe) Sepulveda, both of San Juan, Adolfo (Olga) López Jr., of McAllen; four grandchildren, Eraclio Castillo III, Alma M. Castillo, Camila López, Sandra (Victor) Villarreal; and two sisters, Sylvia Luz Garza and Martha Dolores Garza, both of Monterrey, Nuevo León. Mrs. López, along with her beloved husband, always instilled their love of the Hispanic/Mexican culture and the Spanish language. They always told their children to never forget their roots and to respect and acknowledge their American culture and language as well. Mrs. López love for her children, grandchildren and extended family was immeasurable. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
