Woman charged with DWI, manslaughter

Three people dead in two weeks as a result of suspected drunk driving (Advance News; May 16, 2018). The latest fatality occurred in the early morning hours of last Wednesday (approximately 1:30 a.m.) in Weslaco when Sullivan City resident Franshely Ahaida Salinas, 28 years of age, allegedly veered off of I-2 (Expressway 83) and crashed into a vehicle parked on the shoulder. The lone driver, the same age as Salinas, was ejected from the vehicle, transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Salinas was subsequently charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle and manslaughter. A municipal judge set her bond at $250,000 and ordered that if Salinas is released from the county jail, she must carry a GPS tracker with her at all times, which will not only alert Weslaco police if she drives but if she drinks as well (as first reported by ValleyCentral.com).
