Three Valley arrests tied to Dallas murder

Reporting the crime news can prove murder for Mexican journalists

If the violent May 2013 murder of Attorney Juan Jesus Guerrero Chapa had taken place in Mexico instead of the U.S., it probably wouldn’t have been reported on by the local media. Neither would the October 2014 murder of Reynosa Physician Maria Del Rosario Fuentes Rubio. These days, reporting on the drug cartels and/or their connections to government officials can prove lethal to those reporting the news. Last month, for example, two men burst into a radio studio in Mazatlan and shot to death popular Radio Host Atilano Roman while he was on the air hosting his Saturday morning program. Radio listeners could hear the horrifying sounds live.
