McAllen taxes going up?
McAllen residents will have two chances to tell city commissioners what they think about a proposed almost-two-cent increase in the property tax rate before commissioners have to adopt a new budget and the tax rate to pay for it.
At their Monday night meeting, commissioners unanimously voted to raise the city rate from $.479234 to $.495677 or from $.479234 cents per hundred dollars of property value to $.495677 per hundred dollars. That's an increase of $.016443 cents
City Manager Roy Rodriguez reminded everyone the increase is to pay off the bonds voted for in 2018 to pay for traffic and drainage improvements.
