Judge’s ruling keeps him on Edinburg City Council

Despite a vote this past March by the Edinburg City Council to remove Councilman Homer Jasso, Jr. from his elected seat, state District Court Judge Mario Ramirez (the 332nd) essentially overturned that vote last Friday by declaring that the beleaguered public servant had no “guilty mind” during the time that his business, Santa Anita Recycling LLC, did tire-recycling work for the city.
Ramirez also ruled that the council’s vote to hit the Jasso eject button was “arbitrary” and showed an “abuse of discretion.”
