Edinburg PD gives a pass to JP Jasso after leaving scene of hit-and-run
New chief sworn into office
EDINBURG – As of last week, Edinburg has a new police chief, Cesar Torres, who spent most of his law-enforcement career assigned to the Texas DPS. So, the question becomes, under new departmental leadership, will all elected officials be treated as your regular Joe-Blow citizen from now on, or will special favors still continued to be dished out to a chosen few as was what seems to be the case recently with Hidalgo County Precinct 4, Place 2 Justice of the Peace Homero “Homer” Jasso, Sr.?
The Advance News Journal got a tip last month that Jasso, Sr. had been involved in a hit and run Nov. 27, striking an unoccupied vehicle, but he got off scot free. You know, like what would have happened to you and me if we had struck a parked car and simply driven away from the scene. No fuss; no muss.
