Rodolfo “Rudy” Delgado

8-count indictment Judge Rudy wins the race

Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals (the 13th) is comprised of 20 counties. Attorney and sitting interim (appointed) state District Court Judge Jaime Tijerina should probably have won the seat on the appellate court for which he was running, Place 4, considering that his Democratic opponent, Rudy Delgado, has already been suspended by the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct and is currently under federal indictment: 8 counts (bribery, obstruction of justice, etc.).

In point of fact, out of the 20 counties, Tijerina won all but three: Hidalgo, Cameron, and Kleberg. Still, Tijerina lost by a 50.3 percent vs. 49.7 percent margin.

Blame it perhaps on the palanca (straightticket voting), which won’t be an option for voters in 2020).
