Judge Longoria Demands Retraction

I received a letter Sept. 10 from an attorney representing Nora Longoria, who is an appellate judge on the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals, who is also up for re-election this year. Meaning, any news related to her 2014 arrest for suspected DWI isn’t going to sit well with her as she works to beat her opponent, McHi grad Greg Perkes, who sat on the 13th between 2010 and 2016.
If this hadn’t been an election year, would her attorney have sent me a letter demanding a retraction and an apology for an Observations Column I wrote and published Sept. 5th? Who knows. I have written before about Longoria’s 2014 DWI arrest and its subsequent dismissal by former DA Rene Guerra; the successful effort she made to get her arrest record later expunged; and I never got a letter from her attorney; but she was safe into a six-year term at that juncture. Now, however, the November election isn’t far off, and Perkes is a formidable foe, in my opinion.
